About our blog :)

I finally came up with a perfect blog name!  Well, for years I've tried to find a blog name that summarized my purpose for living...that summarized my life, interests, or goals for our family.  This kept changing with each passing year and who can summarize all that life in one small title?  Lately God has been impressing upon me the brevity of life and the importance, the weight, that each day holds.

David asked God to "teach him to number my days that I might present to You a heart of wisdom."

That is what life is about. Realizing our days are numbered.  Seeking God's wisdom.  Seeking Him, while He may be found.

The truth is, our days are numbered. We assume we always have tomorrow.  Please, if you think that you have forever and you will "get your life straight one day", read what Solomon has to say.

"Today if you hear His voice, do not harden your heart."  Turn to Him, that you might live and all your days might be glad! :)

Hear what Solomon, has to say:

9:1 So I reflected on all this, attempting to clear it all up. I concluded that the righteous and the wise, as well as their works, are in the hand of God; whether a person will be loved or hated – no one knows what lies ahead. 2 Everyone shares the same fate – the righteous and the wicked, the good and the bad... This is the unfortunate fact about everything that happens on earth: the same fate awaits everyone. In addition to this, the hearts of all people are full of evil, and there is folly in their hearts during their lives – then they die. 4 But whoever is among the living has hope;
...For the living know that they will die, but the dead do not know anything; they have no further reward – and even the memory of them disappears. 6 What they loved, as well as what they hated and envied, perished long ago, and they no longer have a part in anything that happens on earth. 7 Go, eat your food with joy, and drink your wine with a happy heart, because God has already approved your works. 8 Let your clothes always be white, and do not spare precious ointment on your head. 9 Enjoy life with your beloved wife during all the days of your fleeting life that God has given you on earth during all your fleeting days; for that is your reward in life and in your burdensome work on earth. 10 Whatever you find to do with your hands, do it with all your might, because there is neither work nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom in the grave, the place where you will eventually go. 11 Again, I observed this on the earth: the race is not always won by the swiftest, the battle is not always won by the strongest; prosperity does not always belong to those who are the wisest, wealth does not always belong to those who are the most discerning, nor does success always come to those with the most knowledge – for time and chance may overcome them all. 12 Surely, no one knows his appointed time! Like fish that are caught in a deadly net, and like birds that are caught in a snare – just like them, all people are ensnared at an unfortunate time that falls upon them suddenly." ©NET

But there is hope!  For those who know and follow a man named Jesus, we have been granted ETERNAL LIFE!  Not just flying on clouds...NO, life beyond the grave.  A full and abundant life, where we will always work, fellowship and enjoy the presence of the Lord and His creation and His people.  This is called the New Earth, which God will create for His people.  Sound boring?  God created this world to be PERFECT!  Don't you feel it?  Don't you long for it?  Don't you long for perfect relationships, perfect friendships, perfect happiness?  Of course you do, because God has set it in your heart.  And the good news is, you can have it.  One day.  This is why death holds no power over the one who believes in the Son of God, because He knows this life is short and His heart is set on a pilgrimage.

So what does this have to do with my blog?  This is the Day that the Lord has made.  We will rejoice and be glad in it.  We only have today.  Who knows how long before we go to meet our Creator, the one who made the millions of colors of fish swirling in the ocean, who made the fins on tiny seahorses, who made the stars the twinkle in the sky and provide light for men, who made eyes to see, hearts to love, and plump cheeks to kiss.  He is a God of wonder.  An amazing creative God who makes even the animal's eyes shiny like glass, complicated, beautiful, full of wonder and majesty.  He is a God we serve, and our blog is about how we spend our days learning how to serve Him better and learn about His Awesomeness through All that He has created.  This is the day to do that!

O LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
       You have set your glory
       above the heavens.
2 From the lips of children and infants
       you have ordained praise [b]
       because of your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
3 When I consider your heavens,
       the work of your fingers,
       the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place " Psalm 8
